I'm the Director of the Greenville Rescue Mission, a department of Miracle Hill Ministries in Upstate South Carolina. We provide residential care to 400-500 men, women, and children every night. Our staff of 125 work primarily with the homeless and the addicted in our communities. Many years ago we discovered (pun intended) PI and its wonderful work. I have been through several of the trainings in Atlanta and am the DISC torchbearer here for our organization. We use adult profiles (both paper and online) with many distinct groups: staff, drug and alcohol program client---both men and women, Interns, Servant Leaders, for marriage counseling, training mentor groups, etc. Our organization has, as other non profits, felt the effects of financial turmoil across the country. One of the easy reduction in budget ideas is always the training budget. I would hate to see that happen here at Miracle Hill. Hundreds have found encouragement and hope by understanding the Model of Human Behavior. We have even been honored to have Dr. Rohm and Carl Smith do a staff training with us a few years ago. Now here is my question---do any of you all know of a charity, foundation, civic group, etc who would be open to a grant request from us to fund DISC operations for the next 3 years. My guess is that the total for 3 years would be somewhere around $7000. Applying for grants would be new thing for me; but well worth whatever effort to continue to provide DISC blessing to clients and staff.
